The Real Valentine

A3
It seemed like the end ! Nobody was ready  for it. The roads were getting narrower, scarier and the weather wasn’t on their side. Everyone prayed in unison – the onset of tragedy bringing people together. But she seemed unmoved, unnerved with a rather content look on her face. He was sitting next to her and was annoyed by her calmness. Not able to contain his anger much longer – he confronted her – “How can you be so calm through this turbulence. Aren’t you afraid that the bus might fall off the cliff and all of us could die ?”
She smiled… and said that she wasn’t scared because she was confident that nothing would happen to any of them.
“Why? Are you waiting for a miracle?” he asked sarcastically.
“No, because my husband is the driver of this bus & he won’t let anything happen to me” – she smiled !

That’s the valentine I am talking about. A valentine is someone who has your back – who is going walk behind you to hold you – when you fall, in front of you to lead the way – when you are lost and  next to you – to be there for you… always !

A valentine could be anyone in our lives – partner, parent, friend & the forever one – yourself !  coz no one aint there for you like your own lovely self !  Never forget that sister !

Happy Valentines day

Relax & Recharge

When you swim you don’t grab hold of the water, because if you do you will sink and drown.
Instead you relax, and float.

I am constantly running – if not physically then mentally. I cannot sit still,  not having something on my agenda makes me impatient . I need to have a plan for the day as soon as  I get up. That doesn’t mean, I will stick to it entirely or get everything done – but I want to be able to cross things off my list.  I also need that list to be big , be concrete even if each item on it is small and meager.  There’s this constant feeling of so much to do – so little time. But after a few whirlwind days of trying to get things done to even getting some done – I realize, this cant go on !  There needs to be a break, a time to sort things out, to reset priorities and refuel to come back and start the cycle again. That’s when I want to – I need to relax, to float, to let go and feel the freedom!

Recently, when Front Row Shop asked me to try some of their clothes – I instantly fell in love with their collection. I have always talked about my love ( and importance ) of comfortable clothing. Some of their pieces have the simply-slip-on-and-relax vibe.
It is very fashion forward-front row stuff, not to mention – affordable ! If ever given a chance to attend NYFW ( which btw kicked off today ) – I know I’d be picking a few pieces for sure . ( a girl can dream, right? 🙂 )
Some of the items on my wishlist – ( all below $60 ) & they have free world-wide shipping options.

Daily Skin Care Routine

Growing up, one of the lessons I learnt from my mom was the importance of skincare. She always stresses on using natural things, like mud packs or keeping aside a slice of fruit for a natural face glow. I have extremely sensitive skin and occasional breakouts. And the acne-w(b)itch ( tooth fairy’s evil sister ) also leaves behind some blemishes every once in a while . I hate getting facials (I know – whatt?? ) and am paranoid about using chemical based products . Recently, I started using products from The Body Shop’s Tea Tree line and they seem to be helping my skin tremendously.

TEA TREE SKIN CLEARING FACIAL WASH

This really seems to keep the facial oils under control. I love its earthy smell and is has a nice cooling sensation. There’s a little tingling which makes me think that its really reaching the pores. My breakouts have definitely gone down since I started using this.

I don’t know if it is just a result of using this night lotion or the combination of other products – but the acne scars on my face have visibly started to lighten. You don’t know how happy that makes me !

I apply this after using the face-wash and love how lightweight this is. However, it does tend to leave a little bit of dryness ( if you have oily skin that might not be an issue ) – so I apply a small amount of my daily SPF moisturizer before stepping out.

I almost never use face masks – just don’t like how they harden up on the skin and have to be scrubbed hard to be removed. But not this one. It remains soft even after 10 minutes of application and easily comes out with warm water, leaving the face feeling softer and nourished.

I think I am also going to give the Tea Tree Oil ( good for spot correction ) and the Pore Minimizer a try !
These products are organic ( and so much cheaper than some other popular products out there ) – if you find that these work for you, I’d recommend stocking up when there’s a sale.

PS : Some of you asked me to include links/recommendations for buying the looks or products in India.
The good news is – Body Shop has its Indian online shopping site, free shipping options are available and they have tons of  stores all over India.

Let’s Do It

Once upon a time, there was a girl and a boy who made each other very happy. One day, he asked her if she would be his

forever ! Her answer resonated with the innocence and simplicity of his question – Let’s Do It !

She did not need a ring, he did not have to go down on one knee –
all she needed was the confidence in his eyes and all he needed was her by his side.

Last week , I spotted this intriguing mesh of barren trees that stood amidst the snow fallen on the ground. It has been mind-numbingly cold here and that day was no different ( 5F ! ) I wanted to take him with me and knew it would need some real convincing to get him out for that hike. I asked him if he was up for it –  surprisingly all he said was – Let’s Do It –
just like the way I said it 2 years back !

There are times when we think too much about things, about the consequences, about the what-ifs ! Sometimes the answer is to just do it, take a risk and enjoy what spontaneity has to offer. Chances are you’ll love that you took

the plunge or atleast learn from it.

Do that one thing today, that you have been thinking about too much  – ask him out –  put that business idea into action – let them know you don’t agree with their decision – take that class you always wanted to take –
mix unexpected colors in your outfit ! Do It !
