Massachusetts Tax Free Weekend – Wish List

While some count the days to their birthdays, anniversaries or upcoming vacations – I can hardly wait for the MA tax free weekend. Infact, I block off the weekend months in advance & dedicate the day to playing my role as a good citizen. This is when I do my bit for the betterment of my state 🙂

This year, I have wayyy too many items on my wish list – some that I absolutely NEED and have been waiting for so desperately. And some I clearly cant afford – BUT a girl can dream, right? 🙂

Note to self : There’ll always be something that you’ll want  – but stick to your budget – it gets painfully tempting! 🙁

Here are some of the things on my lust-slash-wish-slash-absoluetyneed-slash-havebeenwaitingforsincesolong-tax-free-weekend-list !

The MA tax-free weekend is on the 10th & 11th of August. Most things upto $2500 will be eligible for the 6.25% sales tax exemption.
Do you have a wish list to fulfil this weekend?
Do share – I might NEED something from your list as well 🙂

Traditional Indian Attire

Living in Boston, I just don’t get that many opportunities to dress per my roots .
But when I do – ohh trust me !!  I REALLY love playing dressup 🙂

This weekend, we were invited to an Indian dance recital of a very close friend’s daughter.
I picked this outfit which was tucked away at the back of my closet for more than 4 years.
( but honestly , if you only have a handful of occasions to dress traditionally, how often would you repeat an outfit anyway – right 😉 )

The unique thing about this dress is that , its a hybrid sari slash salwar-kameez slash toga.
Its got the sexiness of the Traditional Indian Sari and the convenience of a salwar-kameez and when worn without the leggings, it easily transforms into a toga – perfect for a dinner-date !
Another reason I love it – its self-designed 🙂

Since there was so much going on below the neck and that I wanted to show-off my jhumkis – I decided to wear my hear in a sock-bun.

The dance recital was so beautiful that it brought tears to everybody’s eyes. The show went on for about 2.5 hrs and I dint want it to end.
And it took me back to those days when I used to perform on the stage ALL the time. Hoping one day- I go back to the stage 🙂 ( Please do send positive thoughts my way for that to happen some day :))

Self-designed dress, Kundan jewelry from India , Gold embroidered clutch from India,  Audrey Brooke Pumps ( similar – here & here )

For buying Indian-inspired jewelry – AmritaSingh is one of my favorites for shopping them online in the US.

Have a great week everyone !!

A little bit of leather …

…. And a lot of fun 🙂

I suddenly have so much leather in my closet , much much more than I’ve ever owned in all these years – combined !
Methinks that even the slightest bit of leather in an outfit, brings a certain amount of sophistication to the look. To me , it says power, cute, sass and sexy  ~ 🙂

I absolutely love buttoned shirts – they can be paired with skirts, jeans, shorts – pulled over on a cami or tucked in.
Both the shirt & the skirt are from Nordstrom ( anniversary sale ! ) – Dont forget to check it out – just 2 more days left 🙂

Flowy leather skirt ( similar ),Rubbish workwear shirt ,
Ivnaka Trump Pumps, Forever 21 ring ( similar here & here ), silver hoop earrings , Prada Wristlet

O So Boho !

Summer in Boston seems to be slipping through our hands like sand. I want to hold on to every single minute of it because ,  soon the days wont be as long and definitely not even half as warm.

The one thing I absolutely love during summer is – walk up & down and up & down on Newbury street ( and ofcourse – in & out and in & out of stores 🙂 ) When in that area, I never skip stopping at the Trinity church, my fav place in Boston  !

This skirt that I am wearing was originally a scarf in its previous life, which my mom had bought as a souvenir from her trip to Uzbekistan . She wasnt really using the scarf ( who needs a scarf in Bombay ! ) – so she suggsted I make a skirt out of it. ( Having a friend who owns a tailoring store defintely helps when you wanna give a new life to your scarves 🙂 )
This necklace also belongs to my mom – but somehow it found its way into my luggae all the way to Boston 🙂

Basic white tunic ( very old ) , ikat print skirt , chunky tribal necklace,  Michael Kors pumps ( similar here & here ) , Michael Kors tote (old ) , Tory burch earrings

I just luvvve  the bohemian look – its unconventional , there are no trends to keep up with and no rules that have to be followed. Just a carefree , create and own your style kinda look !

Here are some options to create your own bohemian look !

Dresses like Mixed print maxi , Printed tunics ,Tribal skirts paired with basic tops , Plain skirts with cropped tops
Chunky Necklaces like this , this or this
Stacked Bangles or charm bracelts
Bags for extra swags  –  like this or this
