My husband got me a new bike and I can’t get enough of it. Its white and it has a basket. L-O-V-E it and love him =)) It’s such a lovely upgrade over my silly old bike. The weather this weekend was beyond gorgeous, perfect for biking round the Emerald necklace. Being on the bike brings out the little girl inside me every time I am on it – I talk incessantly ( even if he is out of earshot ) and sometimes I sing ( and then he pretends that we aren’t together). As I rode along the pond, I started to think about how my girl ( and my oldest friend ) went biking every evening after school. Once when we were nine, she got a new bike, this  lady bird ( it was a huge thing back then in India). I took it for a test ride and no sooner that I started zapping it, than did I fall with the bike on top of me. I was barely hurt but a rod came sticking out of her shiny new bike. I was torn with guilt and like any little kid – I bet she was heart-broken. But I don’t think she said anything then and she never mentioned it in all this time, not even as a joke. Its been almost two decades since then ( stop doing the math =)) ) and she still remains my best friend. That’s the thing about friends you know – we read the other’s mind, complete each other’s sentences and most importantly never feel alone. With them, it does not matter how far you are physically, how often you meet – you just pick up from where you left, like no time or distance passed in between. Its amazing to have such great friends and more amazing if you can be one.
