16th August sure holds a special place in my life. Almost 9 years ago (on the 16th) – I made a BIG move – took a 20 hour plane ride and moved to Boston all the way from Bombay. Now 9 years later on the exact same date – we will be moving into our home! I have to confess that when we first started talking about buying a house – I was very nervous, mainly about the process but more than excited about the next step in our lives =)) We really lucked out in our search – both of us being such picky shoppers, its amazing how we said yes to this one in a heartbeat, literally after just a few days of house hunting. I absolutely LOVE little traditions that have been passed down to us over the years – we had a little ceremony with family and some of our close friends to celebrate the first step into the house before we actually move in and make it home !
First step together in the house – “as we step in together, lets promise to be at each other’s side no matter what”
symbolic gesture per Indian culture – placing a cocunut in an auspicious pot near the place of cooking – the most important room in the house
and finally the best and our most favorite part of the house – can’t wait for it to be the backdrop of so many shoots, so much of playing dress up in and around it, so many parties,
get-togethers & making memories every bit along the way!
This is home
Now I’m finally where I belong
Where I Belong
Yeah, this is home
I’ve been searching for a place of my own
Now I’ve found it
Maybe this is home
This is home
And now after all my searching
After all my questions
I’m gonna call it home
I’ve got a brand new mindset
I can finally see the sunset
I’m gonna call it home
