It is no secret that the mister and I love going to Newport. So when Enterprise CarShare asked us to try out their program, we decided to savor the last moments of summer and take a day trip there.
I have always wanted to do the SUV thing, where you can sit in the trunk of the car and have a picnic. You also know how much I love picnics.
The process of renting the car couldn’t have been easier. You create an account, provide your license details for review, get approved quickly (I was approved in less than a day – voila!) and then you receive your membership card in the mail. When you want to book a car, you simply open the Enterprise CarShare app to view the vehicles available in your area. Pickup locations are plentiful around the city; we picked up our rental from the Brookline neighborhood. One of the main differences between this program and traditional car renting is that the rental includes the fuel, so you don’t always have to worry about refueling before dropping off the car. Another cool thing that I found interesting and saved time: you just tap your membership card on the car to unlock it and you are good to hit the road. No queues to get the rental, no in-person forms at the time of picking up… Easy!
We drove up to one of our favorite farms in Newport to grab lunch and picked a spot far from the public (not far from the flowers though!)
Just like us, the car needed a little bit of refueling that was easily taken care by the fuel card that comes along with the car. No need to pay additional for the fuel pit stop – unless you count chips and cookies from the gas station =)) Good company, good food, good weather… preferences in no particular order, let’s hope that glorious sunny days are still in nature’s kitty. Here’s to easy car pickup, road trips and good times! xo Neha
