Finally! I have been waiting to do the living room reveal for so long… partly because, we just got around to decorating it not too long ago. One of the reasons for that was, we weren’t able to find a set that resonated with what we wanted this space to be. The one vision I had in my head while shopping online and in stores for furniture for our living room was, that it had to have a “classic” feel.
The Montesori collection from Raymour and Flanigan was just what we were looking for. ( Isn’t it a miracle when both husband and wife agree on the same thing without one even needing to present a case to the other? =)) ) It is very reflective of a classic Indian home decor with the gold, silk, maroon. I loved the regal look that lends to the space. ( Reminds me of a palace that I had visited as a kid =)) The mister says I am biased, but nothing wrong in thinking of your own home as a palace, right? )
The rug is a Jaipur rug, one of the finest rugs in the world. I think the one we have back home is also from Jaipur, so I was very happy to find one online at Raymour and Flanagan.
We got the curtains custom-made India. It did take us quite some time to finalize the design and work on fittings. ( If any of you Indian readers would like the details of the curtain maker we worked with, I’ll be happy to share the details. The fittings are a bit tricky because of the dimension interpretations, shoot me an email if you want those details as well! )
We spend a lot of time in the living room – working, entertaining, having dinner ( the dining area is hardly used ), so having this space exactly how we envisioned it was very important. Cozy, warm an quintessentially classic! So happy it turned out exactly that. Let me know what you think and don’t forget to watch the video at the start of the post or here – xo Neha
