We love traveling and often look outside our the country to find destinations. But there is so much beauty in our neighboring places, we have made it one of our 2017 goals to explore more of our backyard. A few weeks ago, we set out for a mini getaway to Morris in Connecticut and stayed at the Winvian Farms.
Winvian Farm is a luxury resort with eighteen individually themed cottages. When I heard about the themed cottages, I was intrigued – but upon checking them online, I was completely blown away. Some of our favorites are the helicopter cottage – that comes with its own cockpit, the tree house cottage – which is actually built atop a tree! There is no detail of the theme left unnoticed in any of the cottages which makes the experience even more unique.
We stayed in the Library cottage, a book lover’s dream! I was in heaven =)) Two storeys stacked with books, from old classics to new best sellers and the rustic smell of the log cabin combined with the aged books – made this place magical. The cottage is nestled in the woods – so you are transported away from the hustle of the city which made our getaway even more perfect.
Outfit details: Pjs, softest moccasin slippers for home, sweater
The food is divine! Yes divine – I wont use that word loosely when it comes to food but a true farm to table setting, freshest ingredients and impeccable service. The wine collection is exquisite. The staff was extremely hospitable like a doting family taking care of your smallest needs.
S’mores in the room – I could get used to that =))
Holiday touches in the cozy lounge area
Waking up to snow on the ground and mist in the air – magical!
Outfit details: alpaca sweater, faux leather tights, over the knee boots, Nars lipstick
I’d love to come back in the summer, tour the on-site greenhouse, explore the grounds. We have our heart set on the tree house cottage for the next visit – xo Neha
Quick Tips:
- If you are driving from Boston, try to get an early start if you are driving to beat the traffic.
- Map your directions properly, the last 5 min after you enter Morris were a bit confusing.
- Make reservations in advance especially if you are looking for a weekend getaway – the place is hugely popular and as you can imagine, gets booked pretty fast.
- Let the resort know prior to your arrival if you have any food restrictions. Vegetarian food was no problem for me – infact the chef had some amazing, really good creations for me for all meals.
A huge thank you to Winvian farm for being such wonderful hosts

Love it
My favorite is the Charter Oak cottage. It has 2 fireplaces, lovely secluded patio overlooking the gardens. Then climb up to your private atrium -with a magnificent view. The food is amazing. You can watch them pick from the gardens the vegetables and herbs for every meal.
