Home for Christmas & a Giveaway

Snow Bunny-3Last week as I was in pure panic mode – finishing up work details, running errands, packing, last-minute shopping – I found myself silently hoping for a little snow before we left for our trip. Just a little early white Christmas is all I wanted. I must have been a really good girl this year, because it snowed and it wasn’t a teaser or flurries or anything but one of those where within a few hours the whole place gets transformed into a winter wonderland. We recently moved into our house and every wonderful little thing that happens these days seems significant and in my diary gets penned as first this and first that in the new house. First snow. First kiss under the mistletoe. Snow falling outside the window, the tree all lit up, with my husband next to me – I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful first Christmas in our home.

Now I am here in Bombay, reached two days ago and still in a daze due to the extreme jet lag. As I sit here in my childhood home, getting lost in the familiar nooks and corners where my brother and I grew up playing and fighting and being there for each other, where my grand-dad shared stories over dinner each night, where mom and I stayed up late nights chatting about crushes and heart-breaks and dreams and where dad never said no to anything I asked for – I cannot help but feel thankful the good fortunes offered to me. I smile looking at the street where I took long walks with my friends and the bakery across home where I spent hours chatting away with them. This is the familiarity that instantly makes me smile – I am feeling warm inside and content and secure – I can feel it in my bones… this is home!

This holiday season give something memorable to the people you love. Give them something that will make the best memories. So when they take a trip down the memory lane few years from now – this gift should be able to bring a smile to their face even then. Today in the holiday giveaway series – I have a gift card to Cranwell Resort. Nothing like gifting a weekend of relaxation and pampering to someone you love. Holiday Dress

Cranwell_Holiday-2If you love what you are wearing at the party, you will be the one to have the most fun!

I totally and thoroughly believe in it. This is totally that dress. I love the metallic gold woven into the maroon and the touch of brocade that makes the dress look so rich. The thing about this dress that first caught my eye was how the illusion of the crop top making it appear like you were wearing a skirt and a top. Which made me think that this dress will totally work as separates. Right now, I am wearing the dress as is – but if you wear a sweater over it, the dress is your skirt. Pair with a fur wrap. Or wear a high-waisted skirt and use the crop top of the dress. You’ll be wearing this one dress to three parties and no one would know ! Don’t worry – I wont tell =))

This is my favorite time of the year to dressup. I can’t wait for all the parties to begin. When we were taking these pictures, it unexpectedly started to snow. I grabbed my husbands’ blazer from the car and wrapped it around me. It felt like he was giving me a big-bear hug =)) Right there, at that very moment –  the party had begun!

Hope you have a great thanksgiving weekend. Happy Thanksgiving!Love Playing Dressup-1 2 Cranwell_Holiday-11 Cranwell_Holiday-9 Cranwell_Holiday-6 Cranwell_Holiday-5Cranwell_Holiday-12 Cranwell_Holiday-8 Cranwell_Holiday-7 Cranwell_Holiday-4

Cranwell Resort Weekend Getaway

Love Playing Dressup-12“Honey, I am home” – that’s exactly how I felt when we stepped into our suite at the Cranwell Resort last weekend. Some amazing wine and cheese awaited us at our room setting the tone just right for the rest of the weekend. After relaxing for a bit and almost having to peel ourselves from the plush comfort of the room, we started the day by taking a tour of the property.

The expansive-manicured lawns and panoramic views of the Berkshires were a toast to sore eyes. But what was most charming, were the historic buildings and the old photographs that lined the walls of every building , each telling stories of previous owners and their glorious lifestyle. Love Playing Dressup-11 Love Playing Dressup-13 Love Playing Dressup-3Seeking refuge from the bitter cold, we walked into the Mansion – heading straight for the fireplace. The mansion building was my favorite place at the resort. It’s was all about richness, perfection and luxury. All of this felt nothing short of royal. The commitment to grandiosity could be seen in the fabrics of the cozy couches, the shiny oak wood furniture and the oh-my-god majestic stairwell. I couldn’t not play Rose walking down the stairs =))

Love Playing Dressup-22 Love Playing Dressup-17 Love Playing Dressup-14After some greasy fries and delicious big burgers ( coz you know that’s what you do when on vacation =)) ) at Sloane’s tavern, we headed for the spa. The mister actually wanted to play some golf, but it was way too cold for that. The spa was one of the biggest I had ever seen, a big indoor pool, the coziest waiting room and such a cute spa-shop. The spa was bustling with couples taking retreats, mother & daughter duos spending quality time and girlfriends doing what girlfriends do – having fun! I rarely go for massages you know – call me crazy – but I feel more impatient than calm lying on the bed getting “pampered” when I could use that time to get something done. But I am glad, my husband booked us massages and forced me into getting one, because it was such a wonderful, relaxing time and for once, I dint even feel guilty =))

I can’t even imagine how pretty this place would be with all the holiday lights. It would be all incomplete if I dint take a minute to rave about the brunch. The buffet spread was outrageously lavish, setup at Music Room that was like a scene straight-out of Downton Abbey’s tea-room but with servers much (much) more warm and not reciting rehearsed welcome spiels=))

The weekend was soon coming to an end and the only complaint I had, was that our mini-getaway was getting over too soon. But the fact it’s just a 2 hour drive from Boston, only means that we can come down anytime. Anyway, he wants to come back for the golf and I am already dreaming of sipping tea sitting on the Rose Terrace in spring. Infact, now that I think about it, a giftcard to the spa or for a full weekend stay for a friend or relative might get you an award for the most thoughtful gift of the season =))

Going nonstop for the past few months, we desperately needed a quick weekend to unwind and recharge and couldn’t have done it at a much better place. And moreover, the place that makes me feel at home when I am not actually at home – always gets extra stars in my book !

A big thank you to Cranwell Resort for the wonderful stay.

Fur & Fedora

Love Playing Dressup-2First of all – sorry for not having a Monday post yesterday. I try to stick to having a consistent posting schedule but you know sometimes something else just gets the better of you. But here I am now – bringing to you a look that I have a lot to talk about. I, for one – never had the courage to go matchy-matchy on the top and bottom in an outfit. But when I tried this Lysse set together, it was finally time for some firsts =)) The color is gorgeous and I love that the leather strip on the pants breaks the monotone. It totally works without the vest I have on – but it was 37F and mind numbing windy– need I say more?

Aside from the color – what I fell for, was the fabric of the pieces. All Lysse pieces come with a high quality lining which provides the perfect amount of smoothing and it hugs just in the right places. I would never rave about anything unless I truly believe in it – and the fabric and tailoring of these pieces have my thumbs up for sure.

If you have been following the blog for sometime now – you probably know that white shoes always have a front row seat in my closet. You can never go wrong with white ( or black for that matter ) – but you cant deny that white brings an air of sophistication to the room. The best part is that these booties are comfortable which is a factor that I wont compromise with, especially during this time of the year, when you are literally a walking popsicle and taking off your shoes after ten steps ( true story! ) and going bare foot is NOT an option!

On a side note – how gorgeous is the backdrop of these pictures. Details coming soon! You can catch a sneak preview on Instagram meanwhile =))Love Playing Dressup-10 Love Playing Dressup-9 Love Playing Dressup-8 Love Playing Dressup-7 Love Playing Dressup-4Love Playing Dressup-5Love Playing Dressup-6Love Playing Dressup-3
